Mind and breath are linked together. Emotions cause the breath to change. Fear brings shallow breathing and holding your breath. Sadness brings longer exhalations. This connection works in both directions, you can also use the breath to calm the mind. The first thing you say to calm an upset person is, “take a deep breath”.

SKY practice is much more than relaxation. SKY practice cleanses emotions while also quieting the mind to moments of stillness, a natural state of complete mental rest where you are aware, but without continuous thoughts. You feel rejuvenated afterward.

    Mindfulness is having the qualities of peacefulness & awareness. These qualities are the spontaneous result of SKY Breathing Meditation, not the process. Rather than apply effort to keep reminding yourself to be mindful, no effort is used in SKY. The reduction in stress and negative emotions that happens automatically from SKY makes you more calm, present and aware, the key qualities of mindfulness.

    Practicing SKY first for just 10 minutes will enhance the experience and benefits of any other meditation technique by helping the mind settle more deeply.

People of all religions and cultures enjoy the practice.

SKY practice makes the mind calmer & more aware and from this space you're better prepared to apply new ways of thinking that improve personal and professional relationships. Many have said this knowledge alone made the course worth taking.

After the workshop you will be welcome to attend free, weekly group sessions that will strengthen your practice, connect you with others and give you a boost for the week.

Jim Larsen began teaching Meditation in 1975. Since 1991 Jim has taught SKY Breathing Meditation, advanced meditation retreats and other practices to help everyone be healthier and happier. Jim has taught specialized programs for military veterans, prison inmates and survivors of cancer & natural disasters. He brings a lifetime of meditation experience to guide both beginners and advanced practitioners. Based in North Carolina, Jim currently travels full-time leading courses nationally.

Dr. Aditi Dave M.D. trained at the University of Michigan and is an adjunct professor of medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital specializing in in-patient hospital medicine. She also practices integrative and Ayurvedic medicine. She brings a wealth of experience, both as a licensed medical practitioner and 12 years as a volunteer facilitator for SKY Breathing Meditation workshops and advanced meditation practices.
